Mark Hayward is a member of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Environment Program, and hosts its Darwin show Mark in Darwin and the ABC's weekend science show.
Career
From 1990 to 1993, Hayward worked as a reporter at the ABC's national radio network and saw a number of the network's programs produce more children listeners, including the ABC's National Science Week broadcast of a woman presenting her two-day-old baby to the audience.
He subsequently moved to Sydney, where he worked as an arts journalist. He was also the producer for the ABC's science show, Quantum, on SBS TV. In 1993, he joined the ABC, and became a co-host of the ABC Radio National program, the Science Show, with Patrick Hayes. He joined the Environment program in 1994. He has reported from several remote parts of Australia, including offshore islands in Western Australia and the New Guinea highlands.
In 2013 he was a member of the ABC's Australian Story team, which interviewed indigenous Australians about their experiences of colonisation.
He left the ABC to work for an internet consultancy.
